mp3 of the day: Accidents

An oldie but a goodie, this one dates back to the Godbotherers. I recently refurbished it in my home studio and I think it stands up pretty well. It's about Fred Nile and his creepy brand of Christianity, which seems to be all over the joint these days. Pretty much equally applies to John Howard, they've got something very similar behind the eyes.

Accidents

You make it all come true, you make it sound so clear
you know not what you do, you grin from ear to ear
You scrub your unclean body and wear your suit of wire
You throw the fags and witches onto your sacred fire

You state the obvious, you push it down my throat
Everyone is quite aware, you get the donkey vote
You wring your nervous hands and scan your failing health
No-one understands what you've done to yourself

And everything comes back to you
There is no coincidence
And everything is meaningful
And there are no such things as accidents

And I ask, how old is your soul?
The question begs, how old is your soul?

You know what's wrong and right, you think that life is pain
You think in black and white, you try and cleanse the stain
You know what's good for me but I've read your book of lies
You look like shit to me inside those churchroom eyes

And everything comes back to you
There is no coincidence
And everything is meaningful
And there are no such things as accidents
